About Ralf and his Art
WHO IS RALF?
Wildly creative Ralf Laurenson, from North of the border, studied art in London and has since had a long and illustrious career in the arts. His work takes various guises as does Ralf. , He's on a quest for visual stimulation and much of the ideas here come to life in the wee small hours.
Ralf draws, illustrates and designs using an array of techniques, traditional, using old fashioned paper and pens, photography and digital manipulation, whatever is necessary to achieve the 'art'.
CURIOSITY PRINTS
Ralf calls his ever evolving series 'Curiosity Prints', probably because they are all inspired by a curiosity for anything and everything... and the viewer may also be curious as to the message. There is always a morsel or more of ambiguity in the artworks... from unfilled speech bubbles to iconic visual references.
These prints are all strictly Limited Edition, signed and numbered by the artist.
Printed to the highest quality on smooth 210gsm art paper with fade-resistant inks.
MYTYPEFACE
The 'MyTypeface' collection evolved from Ralf's design of a monogram for his 2 year old. Taking the letters of the name in classically minimal font, they are then jumbled ingeniously to create a 'character'. Ralf was consequently asked to create a 'MyTypeface' for several friends and fans. The challenge was, and is, whether each name can be made into a 'character'. To date he has worked with combinations of couples names with a dozen or so letters down to names of just three letters... one of his favourite MyTypeface's is the name 'Eli'.
MyTypeface's are great whatever age or gender, and also have proved to be a unique wedding gift. They are truly personal... not simply 'personalised'.
Whatever the name, a Mytypeface' will be unique to the owner. (Even if Ralf has worked with the name previously he creates a new one.)

THE RALFABET
The 'Ralfabet' came about when Ralf wanted to create a unique and intriguing pictorial print for his little one's bedroom. He wanted to include the less obvious things which he recalls were cool and intriguing when he was a boy. Ralf is committed to proving that art for kids need not be a combination of primary colours and childish art, but can be stimulating to both children and adults if conceived with both in mind.
